The Tech 3 – High Risk Handler is a senior handler responsible for handling the more difficult/bite risk dogs. This role requires familiarity with facility protocols, canine behavior, and dangerous dog procedures.

Tech 3 handlers are the bridge between handling & training. They set the safety standards and make the more difficult judgement calls for the overall safety for fellow employees, dogs & clients.

Not only will this course prepare you to understand our Standard Operation Procedures, but help you to understand how to reinforce them with demonstrations and practical assessments. Being able to problem solve, delegate tasks, and handle dogs under a high stress situations is really important for this role and to prepare you to go into a leadership position.

The Tech 3 handler training is designed for handlers who are ready to take on advanced responsibilities within a professional dog care and training environment. As a Tech 3, you become a specialist in dog handling, behavior assessment, facility operations, and team leadership. This role requires strong judgment, advanced handling skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards for both dogs and staff.

Tech 3 technicians serve as a critical support system for supervisors and trainers by managing more complex cases, assisting with facility logistics, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring daily operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Develop the skills necessary to safely handle dogs that require specialized care and advanced management. Learn how to:

  • Execute and delegate training activities.
  • Assist with playgroup modifications and management
  • Support supervisors with Tech 3-specific tasks, including specialized check-ins, check-outs, and handling routines.
  • Conduct daycare and boarding behavior assessments.
  • Identify and report behavioral concerns.
  • Update handling requirements and dog classifications
  • Facilitate advanced socialization sessions for dogs with specialized behavioral needs.

Gain experience managing the operational side of a professional canine facility by learning how to:

  • Execute daily activity schedules created by supervisors.
  • Improve team efficiency and workflow management.
  • Assist in creating daycare activity plans.
  • Delegate facility setup and end-of-day responsibilities.

  • Supporting client education regarding safety, behavior, and facility procedures.

Serve as a key operational leader by assisting supervisors with:

  • Uploading and organizing client media.
  • Maintaining accurate facility boards and records.
  • Creating and managing daily operational lists.
  • Monitoring compliance with safety protocols and handling standards.
  • Completing check-ins and check-outs for Tech 3 dogs.
  • Assisting with advanced dog handling and training exercises.

This course is designed for experienced handlers who have successfully completed foundational training and are ready to advance into a leadership-focused role. Tech 3 technicians are trusted to make informed decisions, support team development, and safely manage more challenging dogs and situations.
